Authors' objectives: This report aims to summarise the available evidence on the comparative safety, efficacy and costs of bone marrow transplantation (BMT), peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBCT) and cord blood transplantation (CBT).
Authors' recommendations: This report concludes that no single method is dominant over the others on all counts. Also, innovation is continuing in each technology. Costs of the technologies derived from this analysis are higher than those that have been published elsewhere. Wile CBT has substantially higher costs than the other methods, there appears to be other significant factors which work in its favour.
Authors' methods: Systematic review
