Authors' objectives:

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), in which patients breathe 24% to 30% oxygen at elevated pressure, typically at 1.3 to 1.5 atmospheric absolute, has been investigated as a treatment for autistic disorder. The goal of the therapy is to improve behavioral symptoms of autistic disorder by increasing oxygenation of the brain through a combination of increased hydrostatic pressure and elevation of the tissue oxygen tension.
