Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common disorder of childhood and adolescence that is characterized by symptoms of inattention and/or hyperactivity/impulsivity with symptoms persisting for at least 6 months and to an extent that is maladaptive and inconsistent with developmental level. Stimulant medications are widely used for the treatment of ADHD in children and adults.
