Endovascular repair of abdominal Aortic aneurysms

Record ID 32010000855
English
Authors' objectives:

Endovascular repair (EVR), also called endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) or abdominal aortic dissections involves the placement of an expandable stentgraft within the aorta; the stent is inserted via an intravascular catheter that is passed under radiographic guidance from the common femoral or iliac artery into the aortic aneurysm site. When the stent is deployed, it attaches to the vessel wall proximal and distal to the affected segment, allowing blood to flow through the stent and excluding the aneurysm from the arterial circulation. The goal of EVR is to prevent aneurysm enlargement and rupture without the morbidity associated with open surgical repair.
