Authors' objectives:

The World Bank funded study aims to critically assess the current performance of the cervical cancer prevention and control programmes in Thailand. A second aim, in recognition of the limitations of resources and healthcare infrastructures specific to the Thai health care system, is to conduct economic evaluation of several interventions in order to identify the most cost-effective option, between pap smear, visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), and HPV vaccination, in order to reduce the burden of cervical cancer. The final aim was to propose strategies to scale up the cervical cancer prevention and control programme interventions to the national programme manager.
