Authors' recommendations:
The use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis appears to be waning in the hospital environment. Although the monitoring of bone erosion may assess a patient's response to treatment, other clinical measures may be used. Therefore HealthPACT has recommended that further assessment of this technology is no longer warranted.
