Authors' objectives:

To define a basic set of evidence-based quality indicators for the hospital care of stroke patients based on the consensus of a group of experts that is representative of the professionals who provide hospital care to stroke patients in three Autonomous Communities (Catalonia, Aragon and Balearic Islands). The aim of involving and extending the inquiry to the largest number of stroke care specialists possible is to determine what standards are managed and which are prioritized, enabling a greater implementation in daily clinical practice.

Authors' recommendations: The Delphi method made it easier to obtain consensus from a large number of experts from different areas. The audit 2.0 tool comprises a set of updated indicators on structure, process and result, supported by available scientific evidence and with a large degree of consensus, and are considered highly important by the experts who deliver hospital care to stroke patients in participating territories.
