Authors' recommendations:
Current evidence shows a short-term improvement in disease status following treatment with biologics in patients with polyarticular JIA who had previously had an inadequate response to conventional treatment. It is believed that better control of the disease may result in improvement in important long-term clinical outcomes, such as functional disability, which may affect social functioning, employment, and quality of life. Long-term treatment outcomes data, however, are not presently available.
