Authors' recommendations:
Study found associations between use of antidepressant drugs and a number of adverse events in older people, but there was no evidence that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or other antidepressant drugs were associated with a reduced risk of any of the adverse outcomes compared with tricyclic and related antidepressants. They may, however, be associated with increased risks for some adverse events.
