Authors' recommendations: Study found that patients may be successfully treated with a shorter course of peginterferon and ribavirin combination therapy without compromising the likelihood of achieving a sustained virological response. Economic evaluation showed that treatment with peginterferon alfa in specified subgroups of patients yielded quality-of-life gains without excessive increases in costs.
