Authors' objectives:

The aim of this systematic review is to assess the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of multicomponent weight management programmes in overweight and obese adults. Multicomponent weight management programmes include diet, exercise and behaviour therapy elements.

Authors' recommendations: Study suggests that long-term multicomponent weight management interventions are likely to be clinically effective and cost-effective in promoting weight loss in overweight or obese adults. However, weight changes were small and weight regain was common.
