Authors' recommendations: Treatment with aldosterone antagonists such as eplerenone and spironolactone are likely to be highly cost-effective uses of NHS resources for the management of postmyocardial infarction heart failure. Further research is warranted on the relative benefits of one aldosterone antagonist over the other.
