Authors' objectives:

To determine the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of different management strategies for sciatica by undertaking a systematic review and an economic evaluation.

Authors' recommendations: Study found non-opioid medication, epidural corticosteroid injections and disc surgery to be clinically effective for the treatment of sciatica. The evidence did not support the use of opioids and activity restriction.
