Authors' objectives:

Objective: the aim of this study is to forecast effectiveness and cost effectiveness of different HPV vaccination programs in Austria. The research question is: What is the predicted long term effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of different HPV vaccination programs with respect to cervical carcinoma related diseases, given that the vaccination treatment will be introduced in addition to the current Austrian practice of cervical carcinoma screening.

Authors' recommendations: Conclusion and policy options: Based on the results 3 partly complementary policy options are discussed: Option 1: Improvement of screening, that is, optimization of preventive measures Option 2: Vaccination under improved cost-effectiveness due to lower vaccination price Option 3: Vaccination under current condition, but with a high risk of uncertainty and high costs
