Fetal fibronectin test in asymptomatic women

Authors' objectives:
The purpose of fetal fibronectin (fFN) testing is to detect fFN in the cervicovaginal secretions of pregnant women to determine the risk of preterm delivery (PTD). The test has been investigated in symptomatic women with signs and symptoms of preterm labor (PTL) and also as a part of the routine prenatal care of asymptomatic women who are at normal or increased risk for PTD. The current report focuses exclusively on fFN testing in pregnant women without preterm labor symptoms.
