Authors' objectives:

Fecal deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing detects colorectal cancer (CRC) based on the presence of specific, cancer-associated mutations in DNA extracted from stool samples. Fecal DNA testing is intended as both a first-line screening test for CRC in asymptomatic individuals and as a monitoring tool in patients with known or suspected hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC).
