Cryoablation for prostate cancer

Authors' objectives:

Cryoablation for prostate cancer is a minimally invasive surgical technique that uses percutaneously inserted cryoprobes to freeze and, thereby, destroy cancerous prostate tissue. Cryoablation is being investigated as a primary treatment alternative to surgery or radiotherapy for clinically localized prostatic carcinoma and as a second line or salvage treatment for patients with residual or recurrent cancer following radical prostatectomy or irradiation.
