Authors' objectives:
The aim of this review is to examine whether musculoskeletal disorders of the upper extremities are associated with computer work.
Authors' recommendations:
The submitted paper does not provide overwhelming evidence that computer work based activities cause various upper extremity musculoskeletal conditions.
Arguments put forth by the authors of these documents are not logical or scientifically sound. A critical appraisal of the primary studies cited by the author of the document(s) noted above in no way lend themselves to the conclusions as stated by that author.
Given the paucity of data that was presented in the primary studies on the association between various upper extremity disorders and the use of computer terminals, it can be concluded that, at present, given the literature at hand, there is no evidence of any cause-effect association between computer related work activities and upper extremity disorders.
