Fetal fibronectin test in women with symptoms of preterm labor

Record ID 32006001571
English
Authors' objectives:

The purpose of fetal fibronectin (fFN) testing is to detect fFN in the cervicovaginal secretions of pregnant women to determine the risk of preterm delivery (PTD) so that appropriate obstetrical interventions may be undertaken. The test has been investigated in both symptomatic women with signs and symptoms of preterm labor (PTL) and as a part of the routine prenatal care of asymptomatic women who are at low or high risk for PTD. The current report focuses exclusively fFN testing in women with symptoms of preterm labor. For information on fFN testing in asymptomatic patients, refer to the Hayes Medical Technology Directory report entitled Fetal Fibronectin Test in Asymptomatic Patients.
