Authors' objectives:

To determine whether acupuncture is:
more effective than no treatment
more effective than placebo acupuncture
as effective as other interventions used to treat idiopathic (primary) headache.

Authors' recommendations: The existing evidence supports the value of acupuncture in the treatment of idiopathic headaches. However, the quality and quantity of evidence are not entirely convincing. Well planned and large scale studies are necessary in order to evaluate the effectiveness and cost of acupuncture under real life conditions.
