Aguado Romeo MJ, Villegas Portero R, Marquez Pelaez S, Corbacho Martin B, Navarro Caballero JA
Record ID 32006001157
English, Spanish
Authors' objectives: To assess the efficacy of universal leukorreduction of cellular components (erythrocyte and platelet concentrates) in terms of reducing the rate of complications related to allogeneic leukocyte transfusion, compared with leukocytic layer removal and/or selective leukorreduction or other techniques; and to estimate the economic impact of a potential change in strategy.
Authors' recommendations: There is no new scientific evidence to justify performing ULR, nor advantages over leukorreduction using other methods, such as removal of the leukocyte layer and/or selective leukorreduction.
