Authors' objectives:

Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound (US) is used to obtain 3D surface views, cross-sectional views in any plane, and internal views of a fetus in utero. These views have the potential to detect growth problems and to diagnose malformations and/or structural indicators of chromosomal aberrations. Although most malformations cannot be cured, at least in utero, information concerning malformations and chromosomal aberrations can be useful in patient management and planning.
