English
Authors' objectives:

Core decompression (CD) is a procedure used to treat atraumatic avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip in which a central core of bone is removed or drilled from the femoral head into the necrotic zone. The goal of the procedure is to reduce edema within the bone marrow that is associated with AVN, relieve pain, and potentially delay the need for hip replacement surgery by slowing disease progression.
