Authors' objectives:

The objective of phototherapy (light therapy) for acne vulgaris is to destroy Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), the bacterium associated with the production of inflammatory acne lesions, thereby promoting the resolution of existing acne lesions. Phototherapy is intended as an alternative to topical or systemic treatments for acne vulgaris.
