Authors' objectives:

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) involves external monitoring of the weak magnetic fields that are associated with electrical activity within the brain; changes in this neuromagnetic field provide information about brain function. These functional data can be combined with structural data obtained by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), this combined technique is known as magnetic source imaging (MSI). MSI has been investigated as a noninvasive technique for evaluating brain function and for preoperative planning in patients with a variety of neurological disorders such as tumors, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and epilepsy.
