Record ID 32006000101
English
Authors' objectives:

Genetic testing for ovarian cancer susceptibility involves analysis of DNA to determine if an individual has inherited a mutated version of one or more of the genes associated with the development of familial ovarian cancer. A woman who inherits one of these mutations has an elevated risk of developing ovarian and certain other cancers; a man who inherits one of these mutations has an elevated risk of developing certain types of nonovarian cancers. The goal of genetic testing for ovarian cancer susceptibility is to allow individuals to make informed decisions regarding primary prevention and surveillance strategies.
