Computed tomography angiography for intracerebral aneurysm and subarachnoid hemorrhage

Record ID 32006000094
English
Authors' objectives:

Computed tomography angiography (CTA) involves injection of a contrast agent to enhance visualization of vessels during computed tomography (CT) scanning. Although unenhanced CT scanning is often used to evaluate patients with suspicion of intracranial hemorrhage and to distinguish ischemic from hemorrhagic causes of stroke, CTA may be used to visualize the cerebral vessels in detail and to identify the source of bleeding, such as a ruptured intracerebral aneurysm. CTA may also be used to evaluate the size and location of unruptured intracerebral aneurysms or vascular malformations.
