Cancer antigen (CA) 125 is a protein that is produced and secreted by ovarian cancer cells and that can be elevated in the presence of ovarian cancer. Measurement of serum levels of CA 125 has been investigated as a potential means of screening average-risk women for the presence of ovarian cancer.
