Authors' objectives:

Botulinum toxin type A and B (BTX-A and BTX-B), neurotoxins produced by the bacterium Clostridium (C.) botulinum, are used to reduce excessive sweating associated with various forms of hyperhidrosis. The goal of injection of BTX-A or BTX-B at the affected site is to reduce excessive sweating by blocking the release of acetylcholine, thus interfering with nerve transmission at the autonomic nerve endings that innervate sweat glands.
