Authors' objectives:

Otitis media (OM) is a spectrum of diseases of the middle ear that involve inflammation and/or infection. Therapy is based on accurate diagnosis and is aimed at resolution of symptoms and prevention of recurrence. The therapeutic decision includes avoidance of adverse outcomes due to the disease process, such as hearing loss and language delays, and avoidance of adverse side effects of therapy, particularly the development of resistant bacteria.
