Thermography - nonsystematic review

Conseil d'Evaluation des Technologies de la Sante du Quebec
Record ID 31999008119
English, French
Authors' objectives:

This report explains the physiological and pathological basis underlying the use of thermography, describes the equipment used, discusses its safety and examines the utility of its current diagnostic applications. The applications examined are neuromuscular problems, breast tumours, vascular diseases, stress fractures and dental and maxillofacial conditions.

Authors' recommendations: This report concludes that thermography cannot be considered as 'accepted' or even 'innovative' diagnostic technology, since the technologies it is supposedly intended to replace are still superior, according to published studies. Furthermore, its role as an 'experimental' technology seems limited.
