Authors' objectives:

The principal objective of this report is to investigate the effectiveness of the inclusion of information and communication technology (ICT) in chronic diseases management.

Authors' recommendations: Available evidence regarding the clinical benefits of ICT for managing chronic disease is reduced. Better outcomes were obtained when these technologies are introduced in global health care processes with appropriate organizational systems. Continuous technology advances together with the design of health care programs appears to improve future outcomes.
