High-dose chemotherapy with autologous stem cell support, treatment for chronic leukemia

Record ID 32005000033
English
Authors' objectives:

High-dose chemotherapy (HDC) involves use of anticancer drugs in concentrations much higher than conventional therapy, with the goal to eradicate cancer cells more effectively and thereby improve survival. Since HDC is highly toxic to the bone marrow, autologous bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cell transplantation is performed to enhance recovery of the hematopoietic system after completion of the chemotherapy.
