Authors' objectives:
Computer-assisted screening methods utilizing neural network, algorithm-based, or image processing technology can be used to screen for atypical cells, cervical cancer, and its precursor lesions in cervical cytology smears. These computer-assisted screening methods were developed to reduce the false-negative rate associated with cervical cytology screening and to increase the efficiency of slide examination.
