Aromatase inhibitors for treatment of estrogen-sensitive breast tumors

Record ID 32005000014
English
Authors' objectives:

Aromatase inhibitors (AIs) prevent the enzyme aromatase from converting other naturally occurring hormones into estrogen, thereby limiting the amount of estrogen available for breast cancer tumor growth. AIs are used after failure of tamoxifen to prevent breast cancer recurrence, as a first-line therapy in women with early breast cancer, and as an adjuvant treatment for women with advanced breast cancer.
