Authors' objectives:
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) with fully automatic devices is used during a specified interval of time (usually 24 hours) to obtain repeated measurements of blood pressure during activities of daily living in order to provide an accurate estimate of the patients average blood pressure, and to determine the degree of blood pressure variability throughout the observation period. ABPM devices measure blood pressure by means of auscultatory or oscillometric methods.
