Authors' objectives:

This study aims to summarise the currently available evidence on BacLite MRSA detection test for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) colonisation.

Authors' recommendations: The BacLite MRSA test is a rapid antigen-luminescence test for patients and hospital staff colonised or suspected of being colonised with methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA). The test is validated for use with nasal swabs and takes 2-5 hours. No published information regarding the sensitivity and specificity of this test is currently available.
