[Effect of IVF treatment at different BMI thresholds]

Record ID 32018016051
English, Swedish
Original Title: Effekt av IVF-behandling vid olika BMI-gränser
Authors' objectives: Healthcare regions in Sweden apply different BMI thresholds for approving IVF treatment, which has resulted in women with high BMI to travel to regions with higher thresholds to receive IVF. The upper BMI limits applied in Sweden for IVF treatment are 30 (obesity) and 35 (class II obesity), respectively. This practice appears to have evolved over time. As healthcare providers seek to harmonise BMI regulations, a systematic review of the effects of IVF treatment at different BMI thresholds is warranted. SBU will conduct a systematic review using quantitative methodology, accompanied by ethical and health-economic analyses.
