Original Title:
Grille d’analyse des besoins des enfants à risque de présenter ou qui présentent des difficultés dans leur développement et de leur famille (Agir tôt)
Authors' objectives:
The Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS) was
mandated by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) to develop a
needs analysis grid for children participating in the Agir tôt program and their family.
Authors' results and conclusions:
RESULTS : The needs analysis grid consists of four main sections: 1) Identification of the child;
2) Profile of the child’s development and functioning, including their strengths, interests
and challenges and how these impact their living environments; 3) Prioritization of needs;
and 4) Referral to services. Use of the grid is guided by four basic principles: the participatory approach, the
ecosystemic approach, collaboration between the various partners, and the tool’s
sequential and adaptive use. CONCLUSION: Although several of the tools identified shared certain characteristics with the tool
developed, none of them combines all these features within a single flexible grid. The
needs analysis grid developed by INESSS will make it possible to respond to the needs
of children at risk of or presenting developmental difficulties, as well as to the needs of
their family, in a more targeted fashion.
Authors' methods:
The methodological approach combines an adapted RAND/UCLA Appropriateness
Method (RAM) with stakeholder consultations.
