Endometrial laser ablation (ELA) is a hysteroscopic procedure in which light from a surgical laser is used to coagulate and destroy the endometrium, the glandular inner lining of the uterus. The goal of ELA is to reduce or eliminate excessive blood loss in women with menorrhagia due to benign causes.
