Authors' objectives:
Chelation therapy utilizes specific molecules to form water-soluble complexes with heavy metals to inactivate the metal ions. Chelation is an accepted therapy in certain heavy metal overload conditions, such as lead poisoning. Due to an expanding interest in free radical chemistry and the catalytic effects of iron, proponents are extending the use of chelators into non-overload conditions.
