Authors' objectives:

The goal of cardiac rehabilitation programs is to optimize physical, psychological, social, and vocational function of cardiac disease patients with the use of physical conditioning, identification and modification of risk factors, and education and reinforcement of healthy behaviors. In so doing, recovery from acute cardiac illness is facilitated and risk of future cardiac events reduced by altering the underlying pathophysiology and inducing comprehensive lifestyle changes.
