Authors' objectives:

Botulinum toxin (BTX) is used for the endoscopic treatment of gastrointestinal disorders that are characterized by sphincteric spasticity. BTX is injected directly into affected muscles in order to produce chemical denervation of the abnormally functioning muscles by blocking synaptic transmission. This relaxes the muscle and causes a temporary relief of symptoms.
