Authors' objectives:
To determine whether there is any evidence on the effectiveness of ropinirole in patients with myoclonic dystonia.
Authors' results and conclusions:
63 published studies were identified through the literature searches. Upon examination of the titles and abstracts of these published studies, there was one study thought to be relevant to ropinirole use in treating myoclonic dystonia. A manual search revealed one additional paper. Therefore, there are two new published studies that are relevant to this systematic review. In this 2025 update, there were two additional low-level, low-quality studies that add to the evidence. However, there were no additional high-quality published studies and the original conclusions remain.
Authors' methods:
A comprehensive and systematic literature search was conducted on December 4, 2025. The search was done on commercial medical literature databases where a combination of key words was employed in this search. The search was done by employing combinations of keywords. Only studies between 2020 through 2025 were included. No other limitations were implemented in any of these searches. A manual search was also planned and conducted on the references of the articles that were retrieved in full.
