Authors' objectives:

Apolipoprotein B (apo B) testing is proposed for the screening, diagnosis, and management of dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in healthy persons who may be at risk for CVD, as well as those with established disease. Since apo B is the major apolipoprotein associated with low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), it has been suggested that apo B can provide information regarding CVD risk in addition to that provided by more common lipid tests.
