Authors' objectives: To determine whether there is any evidence on the safety and efficacy/effectiveness on the placement of a permanent catheter for marcaine infusion to treat radial nerve injury post-de Quarvain tenosynovitis surgery.
Authors' results and conclusions: 70 published studies were identified through the search. Upon examination of the titles and abstracts of these published studies, there were no studies thought to be relevant to determine the safety and efficacy of use of a permanent catheter for marcaine infusion to treat radial nerve injury post-de Quarvain tenosynovitis surgery. Therefore, there are no new published studies that was relevant to this systematic review. In the original 2015 paper, there were no published studies providing any evidence on the efficacy/effectiveness, as well as safety, of the implantation of permacath close to the radial nerve with marcaine infusion to treat (chronic) pain due to radial nerve injury post-de Quarvain tenosynovitis surgery. In this 2024 update, there were no additional relevant published studies and therefore the original conclusions remain.
Authors' methods: A systematic literature search was started on July 8, 2024 conducted on commercial medical literature databases. The search was done by employing combinations of keywords. No other limitations were implemented in any of these searches. A manual search was also planned and conducted on the references of the articles that were retrieved in full.
