Authors' objectives:

The objective of this Assessment is to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the breast to detect or diagnose primary or recurrent breast cancer. Four indications for breast MRI are reviewed in this Assessment, and the evidence is analyzed separately for initial diagnosis in patients without prior history of breast cancer and for diagnosis of recurrence in patients with a prior history of breast cancer.
