Authors' objectives:

This study aims to assess the current evidence on the safety and efficacy of endovenous laser treatment of the long saphenous vein.

Authors' recommendations: Current evidence on the safety and efficacy of endovenous laser treatment of the long saphenous vein appears adequate to support the use of this procedure provided that the normal arrangements are in place for consent, audit and clinical governance. Current evidence on the efficacy of this procedure is limited to case series with up to 3 years follow-up. Clinicians are encouraged to collect longer-term follow up data.
