Authors' objectives:
This study is based on evidence-based science and employs a systematic literature review approach to collect, analyze, and synthesize relevant data. It aims to assess the efficacy and economic impact of prostate surgery, focusing on bipolar transurethral resection or vaporization of the prostate. Based on the evaluation results, a report and recommendations will be formulated to support discussions on whether to include bipolar TURP/TUVP in Taiwanˇ¦s multi-payment National Health Insurance (NHI) system. Specifically, the study objectives are as follows:
1. Conduct a systematic literature review on clinical efficacy evaluation.
2. Collect and compare reimbursement policies and payment rates in social health insurance countries.
3. Analyze the current utilization of the procedure in Taiwan.
4. Conduct a systematic literature review on economic evaluations.
5. Perform a local economic evaluation analysis in Taiwan.
6. Conduct a budget impact analysis for Taiwan.
7. Review the evaluation results and propose reimbursement guidelines that align with Taiwanˇ¦s healthcare system.
