Causal association between soft tissue injury/trauma and aggravation of CRPS

Record ID 32018013508
English
Authors' objectives:
To determine whether there is any evidence to support the (causal) association between soft tissue injury/trauma and aggravating a pre-existing Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) on the same extremity.
Authors' results and conclusions:
No published study was identified from initial search. We then expanded our search looking for any factors that may aggravate pre-existing CRPS. Ninety-nine published studies were identified from a subsequent search. Examination on the titles and abstracts of these 99 studies did not provide any relevant data to the objective of this systematic review. At present, there is no published study supporting the potential (causal) association that soft tissue injury, on the same extremity, may aggravate pre-existing CRPS.
Authors' methods:
A comprehensive and systematic literature search was done on April 3, 2024. The search was done on commercial medical literature databases. A combination of keywords was employed in this search. No limitations, such as on the language or date of publication, was implemented in this search. A manual search, on the references of the articles that were retrieved in full, was planned.
